Benzoic acid

Benzoic acid

Molecular formula: C7H6O2

Molecular weight: 122.1214

CAS:65-85-0

Physical and chemical properties: mostly white prismatic crystal or powder. It has a melting point of 122.13℃, a boiling point of 249℃, and a relative density of 1.2659. At 100℃, it sublimates rapidly, and its vapor is highly irritating. Benzoic acid is slightly soluble in water, but easily soluble in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents.

Product uses:

1. Benzoic acid can be used as a preservative for food, feed, latex and toothpaste;

2. It can be used as a flavor-fixing agent for fruit juice drinks;

3. It can be used as a dye agent for dyeing and printing;

4. It can be used as plasticizer for plastics;

5. It can be used as an anti-microbial agent.

Storage method: Benzoic acid storage must stay away far from the fire and heat source. Use explosion-proof ventilation system and equipment to avoid dust, avoid contacting with oxidants, acids, alkali, and light unloading when handling.
